Shri Davara University, Naya Raipur, inaugurated the Legal Aid Cell and its dedicated office at the School of Law on 02 September 2026. The inauguration was graced by Hon’ble Senior Judge and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Raipur, Shri Avinash Dubey.
On the occasion, the Pro Bono Club “Vidhi Mitan” was formally launched with the objective of promoting pro bono legal services, legal literacy, community outreach, and awareness of legal rights. The initiative will also provide law students with opportunities to engage with underserved and vulnerable sections of society and gain practical exposure to legal-aid work.
Legal Literacy Camp
A Legal Literacy Camp was also organized as part of the programme. Shri Avinash Dubey sensitized students about free legal aid and access to justice, particularly for poor, vulnerable, and underserved communities. Students were also introduced to various important legal areas, including Cyber Laws, IT Act, Railways Act, Motor Vehicles Act, POCSO Act, NDPS Act, Child Marriage Laws, Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment Laws, along with schemes of NALSA and SLSA. Information about the NALSA Legal Aid Helpline – 15100 was also shared.
Promoting Legal Education & Social Responsibility
Respected Director General Dr. Charmi Davara highlighted the importance of the Legal Aid Cell as a platform connecting legal education, social responsibility, and practical learning. She emphasized that law students should go beyond academic knowledge and understand their responsibility towards society by contributing towards making justice accessible to those in need.
The initiative reflects Shri Davara University’s commitment to community-oriented legal education under the guidance and visionary leadership of CEO, Respected Shri Chinmoy Davara. Mr. Yagvendra Singh, Assistant Professor and Law Officer, has been appointed as the Presiding Officer of the Legal Aid Cell and will coordinate its activities and initiatives.
