ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Bachelor of Rural Studies (BRS) is an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree program designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of rural life, socio-economic structures, governance systems, and development challenges. The program covers key areas such as rural development, agriculture and allied sectors, rural economy, social institutions, local governance, environment, and sustainable development.

The curriculum integrates theoretical learning with practical exposure through fieldwork, village studies, surveys, internships, and community engagement programs. Emphasis is placed on participatory development approaches, policy understanding, rural planning, and grassroots-level implementation strategies.

The program aims to develop analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and social responsibility among students, preparing them for careers in rural development organizations, government agencies, NGOs, cooperatives, and for higher studies and research in rural development and allied disciplines.
